PRIVATE EQUITY COMPETITION

Do you want to enhance your investment skills real-life to get ready for your PE recruiting?

The Wharton Latin American Private Equity Competition connects MBA students with private equity professionals from the leading funds investing in Latin America.

WHY COMPETE?

Competitors will have the opportunity to: 

-Present their investment thesis to top private equity fund managers, investment bankers and multinational institutions active in Latin America

- Attend networking events with these professionals

-Hone their investment screening, due diligence and modeling skills

 

COMPETITION RULES

To give participants the most exposure to judges, and stimulate academic and professional growth, the competition will have two stages:

1. Investment idea and submission: Teams will submit their investment here idea by March 9th 11:59PM EST to pecompetition@whalac.com. Each team can only submit one 2-pager summarizing the investment opportunity selected. Companies should i) be headquartered in Latin America, ii) have disclosed public financial statements, and iii) generate positive impact on at least one UN’s development goals without compromising the others (include detail in two-pager)
 

2. Live competition round: Selected teams will present their complete investment thesis to a panel of judges composed of experienced industry professionals. The presentation should cover the following topics: Company Overview, Industry Dynamics, Investment Thesis, Financial Projections Assumptions Exit Strategy and Investment Risks

 

The live competition will be composed of 2 rounds. In the morning round, teams will present their investment thesis to qualify for the finals. In the final round, top teams selected from the previous round will re-present their investment thesis to all judges and get tougher Q&A.

March 9th : Team Applications Due - Submit hereDeadline for investment idea (2-pager) submission.

March 13th: Finalists to present in the live competition round selected

March 27th: Deadline for final presentation (12-page maximum) submission

March 30th: Competition is on March 30th at Huntsman Hall, The Wharton School, Philadelphia, PA.
